Medically Integrated Programming

At HealthSpring Fitness, we have worked collaboratively with NorthBay HealthCare to develop Medical Integration programming that improves the health and fitness of our members. Our team of exercise and wellness professionals are uniquely qualified to meet the needs of every individual at every ability level, including those with existing medical conditions.  We work closely with your medical professional to provide you with the most effective and safe program to help you achieve your health and wellness goals.

In addition in individual services, we will have core programs to meet the needs our of members.  These services may include, but are not limited to the following:

Cardiovascular Programming

  • Post Cardiac Rehabilitation Fitness - Emphasizes exercise maintenance and continued cardiovascular fitness as well as modification of risk factors
  • Peripheral Vascular Exercise - Lower body strengthening and cardiovascular exercise program designed for individuals living with PVD
  • Nutritional Counseling - Nutrition education and diet planning aimed at reducing weight, managing blood pressure and lowering cholesterol

Diabetes Prevention and Management

  • Diabetes Prevention Program - Focus on delaying the onset of Type 2 diabetes through healthful eating and exercising
  • Diabetes Basics Exercise Education - Education and introduction to the effects of exercise on glucose control

Arthritis Management Programs

  • Arthritis Foundation Exercise Programming (Aquatic) - Gentle joint mobility exercise performed in warm water improves strength and flexibility while decreasing pain and stiffness
  • Arthritis Foundation Exercise Programming (Land-based) - Low-intensity aerobic and light strength training combined with stretching and deep breathing exercises

Cancer Wellness Support Programs

  • Gentle Yoga - Designed specifically for cancer survivors. The exercise philosophy focuses on gentle movements in a soothing environment to encourage a sense of wellbeing
  • Cancer Well-fit - Nationally recognized fitness program designed for survivors of every diagnosis of cancer
  • Diagnosis-Specific Programming - Modified Cancer Well-fit focusing on one diagnosis in a particular stage of the journey through cancer

Balance Improvement Exercise Program

  • Balance Improvement - A post-physical therapy program in which participants train stabilizing muscles while being led through balance challenging exercises
  • Fall Prevention - Educational opportunity to instruct individuals on how to improve the safety of their home by eliminating fall hazards. Provide introduction to balance
  • Chair Exercise - Stretching, strengthening, and aerobic conditioning while properly positioned in a chair
  • Tai Chi - A form of traditional Chinese mind/body exercise and meditation that uses slow sets of body movements and controlled breathing. Tai chi is done to improve balance, flexibility, muscle strength, and overall health
  • Yoga - A form of mind/body exercise, stretching and breathing that has been shown to be effective in helping to manage chronic conditions such as back pain, arthritis, and osteoporosis, as well as helping to relieve depression and anxiety, and promoting range of motion and balance in older adults (Source: The Journal of Active Aging)

Orthopedics

  • Post-Physical Therapy Prescriptive Exercise - A step down from PT to Fitness programming. Exercises are recommended by the therapist and performed by the patient independently or while supervised by an exercise physiologist
  • Core Training Spine Stabilization - Gentle land-based abdominal and back strengthening program focused on proper posture
  • Sports-specific Conditioning - Improve athletic performance through a neuromuscular and biomechanical approach targeting speed, agility, power, endurance, coordination, and flexibility
