Massage therapy is one of the oldest and most effective healing arts. While relaxation and stress relief are a primary benefit of massage therapy, it is also used to support recovery and pain relief for arthritis, lower back pain, injury, and headaches, as well as insomnia, anxiety, and circulatory problems.
HealthSpring Fitness is pleased to offer chair and table massage by appointment. Working with one of our Licensed Massage Therapists, you will be guided toward a program that best meets your needs.
Swedish: The primary focus of a Swedish massage is to encourage deep relaxation throughout the nervous system and increase circulation at the most superficial level of the muscle fibers. Using long fluid stokes and a light to moderate amount of pressure, tension and stress will melt away leaving you feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Deep Tissue: Deep tissue massage is aimed to target the tension that lies at the deeper layers of the muscle fibers. This type of massage incorporates stretching; trigger point work and the use of elbows or forearms. In order to address the deeper layers of muscle the pressure used can range from moderate to firm. Muscle soreness like that of an intense workout can occur after this type of massage and can last up to three days post massage.
Sports Massage: Sports massage is great for athletes and those who live a very active event based lifestyle. There are similarities between sports and deep tissue in regards to techniques. Sports unlike deep tissue massage tailors the massage based off of the sport of choice and directs the session on pre-event or post-event complaints.
Trigger point /Myofascial therapy: This form of therapy involves the use of pressure to the tender muscle tissue using fingers, elbows, or instruments. Those who undergo muscle spasms, hip pain, low back pain or any type of muscle related pain can experience a great amount of relief with this type of treatment.
Hot Stone: Hot stone massage is great for melting away deep layers of tension without having to use heavy pressure. The therapist will use warm smooth stones in long fluid movements, as well as placement stones on really tight areas. The heat from the stones softens the muscle tension allowing for deeper work as well as promoting a deeper state of relaxation for the body and mind.
Therapeutic Tandem Massage: Consists of two therapists working in unison on one client. The major benefit of this modality is that the client will receive twice as much work in that session than they would in a one on one session. The therapist will either work in a mirror like fashion or asynchronous fashion incorporating a variety of modalities such as deep tissue, Swedish, stretching, and reflexology.
Add-ons are only additions to services. They are not to be purchased separately unless booked 30 minutes out for the price of a thirty minute session.
