Fitness Director

Mike has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years, and has worked with numerous organizations, ranging from the YMCA and the Stanford Center for Research in Disease Prevention to Technogym and TRX. He has devoted his career to delivering, managing and consulting on personal training, small group personal training and health/wellness services. In his own words …
"I have a wife and 2 teenage sons. We spend a lot of time with their sports activities, mostly soccer. I do some coaching for soccer and some specialty training for goalkeepers, and I still maintain some personal training clients. If I'm not watching my boys play soccer or coaching or training, I am watching professional soccer (BPL, Champion's League, Bundesliga, MLS). I played collegiate soccer. After graduating and while working on my Master's Degree, I competed in triathlons. I completed in Ironman Canada in 1998 and still love to ride, run and swim but after my kids were born I became re-engaged with soccer and have maintained my involvement since then."

Chrisi Blackman

Chrisi began working for Millennium Sports Clubs in 2002 doing Personal Training, Pilates Reformer Training, and teaching group fitness. She was later promoted to Group Fitness Team Leader, managing the group fitness staff when Millennium Sports Club was acquired by In-Shape Fitness. Always evolving as a fitness professional, her goal is to help members achieve milestones by creating programs that are safe, inviting, dynamic, and inspirational.

In her own words …
"I've always been athletic and enjoy the satisfaction of reaching fitness goals through hard work and dedication. I like to stay in tune with the latest fitness trends and expanding my knowledge of holistic remedies and healthy eating. I grew up surfing, played a variety of sports and took dance classes from age 5 to 16. I chose this profession because I wanted to reach out and help inspire and motivate people to achieve their personal goals. I love to cook, hike, run, travel, try new restaurants, watch basketball, baseball and soccer and spend time at the beach. Most of all I enjoy spending time with family and friends."

Kim Becker, M.A.
Membership Counselor

Kim has been in the health and fitness industry for over 20 years, and has worked with numerous organizations, serving as an Adjunct Professor in Health and Physical Education at several Bay Area community colleges as well as manager at community and commercial clubs. Along with her own passion for movement, she strives to influence a healthy lifestyle amongst those she interacts with. Kim holds a B.S. in Exercise and Sports Science, M.A. in Sports Management and credential in Adapted Physical Education. When she is not working, she is most likely participating in an outdoor activity such as cycling, running and hiking.

In her own words …
"I love all outdoor activities including cycling, hiking, running, swimming and spending time in the garden with my family. As the wife of a cancer survivor and mother of three young children, I have a passion for nutrition and hold a strong belief that food is medicine. I've faced my own challenges, overcoming issues with being severely overweight, healing from physical injuries and maintaining overall health. Researching nutrition, biomechanics, adapted Physical Education, therapeutics, rehabilitation, eastern medicine, essential oils and homeopathic medicine is my passion. This collaboration integrates the whole person connecting mind and body. I love teaching others about health and fitness while helping people overcome their challenges. Solving human puzzles and seeking out ways to move beyond perceived limitations gives me inspiration."

Eric Valdez
Membership Counselor

Eric Valdez brings eight years of health and fitness knowledge to his role as a membership counselor at NorthBay HealthSpring Fitness. Eric has a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, and is certified with the National Council for Certified Personal Trainers. During his years in the industry, Eric has helped many people achieve their goals and improve their lives through movement and exercise by understanding their needs and applying a systematic teaching process. Eric is also an expert in teaching advanced Olympic lifting techniques; he can break these techniques down and execute a step-by-step process for teaching the movements. He is equally skilled at taking a simple movement that might be challenging for someone and applying the same process to restore function and mobility.

In his own words …
"I've been in the fitness industry for more than 8 years and love sports, trying new restaurants and exploring the Bay Area. I grew up playing basketball recreationally and practicing my mixed martial arts, which I've been doing since I was 7 years old. I enjoyed being active in general and wanted to become a trainer so that I could share that passion for healthy activity with others. I want to help those in need who want to make a change, physically as well as emotionally, through exercise. When we lose mobility, we in turn lose the ability to live the way we want to live. I like to establish form and function for my clients and then work on mechanics to gain back movement and the lifestyle they desire. In my spare time you can find me rooting for the Golden State Warriors and Oakland Raiders, building my sneaker collection, and spending time with my baby girl."
